Dear Participants:
Welcome to the 2ndInternational Workshop on Tethyan Orogenesis and Metallogeny in Asia (IWTOMA) and Silk Road Higher Education Cooperation Forum!
In order to strengthen the economic ties and expand regional cooperation among countries in Asia and Europe, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed in 2013 to build a “Silk Road Economic Belt” and “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” , which calls for in-depth cooperation in all fields among countries along “one belt and one road”(OBAOR). In response to President Xi’s proposal we have organized this workshop to investigate the possibilities of such cooperation in the Earth Sciences among countries in the Tethyan domain. Needless to say, cooperation among countries and institutions will be the focus and major aim of our workshop.
The 1st International Workshop on Tethyan Orogenesis and Metallogeny in Asia (IWTOMA) and Cooperation among Institutions of Higher Education was held in China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, on October 12-16, 2014. Nearly 90 academic researchers, administrators and students from higher education institutions/universities in 15 countries participated. Delegates of IWTOMA 2014 were treated to a fascinating selection of talks from some of the world’s leading experts in the field of Geology and also presidents and deans from world-famous universities.
This year the workshop is scheduled to run from October 16, 2015 to October 21, 2015. The first 3 days will include the Pre-Conference excursion, invited keynote speeches, oral presentations and laboratory visits; the remaining 3 days will be a post-conference tour and other activities. We thank all Conveners and the Scientific Committee for having devised a very interesting program and hope you will enjoy and benefit from these academic discussions and excursions.
We are looking forward to welcoming all of you to China University of Geosciences (CUG), Wuhan!
